Poetic fodder: from John O' Donohue

As far as you can, hold your confidence.

Do not allow confusion to squander

this call which is loosening your roots in fast ground,

That you might come free from all you have outgrown.

What is being transfigured here is your mind,

and it is difficult and slow to become new.

The more faithfully you can endure here,

the more refined your heart will become

for your arrival in the new dawn.

Journaling micro discipline / prompt :

  • What is it to unveil something new, to outgrow, to shed skin and step into a different sphere? Is this a comfortable thing? Discomfort?

  • This is indeed a new dawn, what is arriving?

  • What is perhaps going out of season?

steadfast hunger

bursting skin

instinctual surrender

first dissolution

then reconstitution

a becoming

a reentry

a struggle

a rebirth

wet wings

thick, slow

beautiful, strong

unfurling into

the grief of dawn
